1-7-25 - Philippines Property update
I went a different direction with the solar I was talking about in this video, but those were my early thoughts on a system that I could buy online and without doing much research into the quality. Glad I waited and got the parts I ended up with.
This is a video tour of our Philippine property before we bought it. It was a rooter farm for fighting roosters when we looked at it. It was managed by a caretaker while the owner lived in the US and didn't have to hear the crowing. It was "80% complete" by Philippine standards, but had a long way to go.
The rooms downstairs are 10 x 10 and the room upstairs is 20 x 20. The aircon upstairs was not properly sized for the room, so we moved it downstairs and replaced it with one we had from our rental house already and moved with us.
The previous owner took all of the metal panels on the fence and structures to sell at the junk shop. Fine with me, it looked like crap.
The flies you see he waving at in the kitchen are for real. It is a constant fight against flies here. We have done screens, screen room and all of the fly prevention we can do and they still make their way inside occasionally. When we first moved in, we were killing about 200 flies a day inside even with doors and windows closed plus full glue'y fly papers in a day. It was like nothing I have ever seen. I think this was compounded by a chicken farm nearby and has never been as bad as it was when we first moved in. The doors and windows are all pure garbage and we have been replacing them slowly as time goes on with doors that function as well as windows that can actually seal.
